What is Managed Futures?

Managed futures are traded by Commodity Trading Advisors. These advisors offer programs that are alternative investments to “traditional” investments such as the stock market and mutual funds. These programs are often non-correlated to the performance of the economy or the stock market. Each of these programs provide investors a standardized disclosure document outlining risks and strategy. Trading advisors are compensated with a predetermined incentive fee, which is generally a percentage of profits or gains in the account. This arrangement is appealing to most investors because the trader has an incentive to make the client money. Some Commodity Trading Advisors could also charge a management fee, so please check with your broker for the specifics about each advisor.
